Just Throw Your Sneakers On

Well, it's back to the races again!I apologize for the corny opening line... but it seemed right...Dr. Tilyr and I spent last Sunday at the beautiful Oakledge Park offering free stretching to Zoe's Race participants, which was held to benefit the Howard Center. You can check out what this great non-profit organization is all about here: http://www.howardcenter.org/homeSome of you may ask...why would anyone in their right mind sign up to wake up early on a Sunday morning, throw their sneakers on and walk/run a 1K or 5K with their kids (some still needing to be pushed in strollers...)?!zoe2

Here are a few of my favorite reasons why you should exercise with your kids.

Regular exercise helps kids:

  • Feel better about themselves
  • Feel more ready to learn in school
  • Build and keep healthy bones, muscles, and joints
  • Sleep better at night
  • Feel less stressed
  • Keep a healthy weight

Plus, enjoying activities together contributes to bringing you and your kids closer together, in my opinion.Which, at the end of the day, is the best reason of all...Don't you think?running famMore:https://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/exerciseforchildren.html
